Second copy opening Not Read only

I am not sure what is happening but everyone can open the database, but we
are loosing changes as the data is not saving. How can I make it open as
read only on the second or third person opening the file?

Perhaps you know the structure of your database, the parameters (if any) with
which it is opened, and the actual symptoms of your problem - but we don't.
Please post some more description of the problem!
 
uh, Jet randomly locks up and prevents data entry.

if you care enough to build a database-- use a database with a
future-- like SQL Server for example

Jet is too buggy to use in the real world, sorry, but you got suckered
into a crap database platform!
