Hello,

I would like to implement the searchurl function using the addressbar that I
have added on my taskbar. I am using Xpsp2 with ie7, but I use avantbrowser
as my main browser.

I would like to write g query for google
gi query for google images
gg query for google groups
gv query for google video
y query for youtube
wp query for wikipedia
a query for answers.com

I read here that this has been disabled for sp2..
http://www.sniff-em.com/sp2note.html
is this correct? and how can I do the above?

thanks

Hi Jim,

No. Address bar shortcuts are still available in IE7 (early beta versions
did omit the functionallity, but they (the IE7 developers) put it back).
Actually so long as the MS SearchHook is installed the Address Bar shortcuts
still work for all browsers including Avant and even Firefox!

Some toolbars hijack the searchhook in all versions of IE. (Yahoo, AOL and
WebSearch). You can repair your searchhook at
http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=SearchHookFixDownload.asp

You can manage your Address Bar shortcuts with a freeware utility at
http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=IESearchURLs_Download.asp (also has a
built-in SearchHook repair)

OR you can search for and install SearchURLs from
http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=iesearches

Regards.
