Searching records that contain a "#" sign

I need to find all records that contain the character "#"
in a field. When I type the criteria:

Like "*" & "#" & "*"

I get all records that have a number in that field.

Any suggestions?

For a literal hash character, enclose in square brackets:
Like "*[#]*"
