I frequently look for email messages. The search in outlook express was
robust..I could look for a term in the message or the subject etc.

there is no categorization of the search and it only seems to look in the
subject/sender/recipient fields. Where are the advanced search functions?

is this nuts?

I don't think your nuts, I think the program is lacking in ability. Having
used Microsoft Outlook (NOT Outlook Express) for years, I am accustomed to
being able to search for messages be various terms as well as a host of
features that Windows Mail does not have. Now I am told that The Vista
(Millenium rebirth) program will not run my Outlook program. I am already
missing XP!

you are right...my question is... ARE THEY NUTS?? How could they remove this
search function? It must be buried somewhere. They make such a big deal out
of the searchability of Vista..

PLEASE someone tell me a useful search function is somewhere in the mail
program...

Which version of Outlook? Versions 2003 and later will run under
Vista; version 2002 will run under Vista but with a few problems.
Earlier versions may not, though. Outlook is part of extra cost
software packages, so don't expect Microsoft to make all of its
features available in email programs available at no extra cost.

Edit | Find | Message lets me tell it to look in From, To, Subject, or Body.

I use Ctrl-Shift-F which I think does the same thing.

Windows Live Mail uses an indexed search which finds matches almost
instantaneously.
