How can I - hopefully easily - create a searchable database for newsgroup
messages searchable by keyword or phrase?

You might want to try this sample database:

Newsgroup Answers MDB
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/newsgroupanswersmdb.htm

It's been a while since I've looked at it, so I don't remember for sure if
it includes a search feature, but I seem to recall that it did.

I have one in the works, it's almost ready, but needs some testing.
If you'd be interested in a finished application and doing some
beta-testing, drop me an email. (Please put "db beta test" as the
subject line, so I know it's not spam.)

test" as the subject line, so I know it's not spam). Also, make sure you provide an
address that can accept email attachments (approx 1 MB). I'll send you the files in a
