Search Pane (Windows Explorer)/MS Windows Updates/Help2-file

Hello,

after severe problems during installation of a new virus scanner
and a firewall, removing that installation and installing again a
combination (two different vendors then) of a virus scanner and
a firewall I have three severe problems:

1. Can't access MS Windows Updates anymore with IE, get an empty
page.
2. The search pane in Windows Explorer is empty, that means no edits/
comboboxes/buttons shown.
3. Certain links/buttons in an Help2-file are not working.

After a scan some files have been quarantined - all from the folder
\jpi_cache\file.

Any suggestion?

Hello,

due to the combinations of the problems I decided to reinstall
Microsoft Windows Script
and applied the following hints:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs2.htm
"Question: Why doesn't Search work?"

Now all is working well again.
