Search is slow in Access 2003 vs Access 2000

I have an Access 2000 database with 145,000 records. None of the tables
are linked to an outside database. If I open the database in Access
2000 and do a search using the binoculars on the Company field (an
indexed field), the results come up instantaneously. If I open the
database in Access 2003 and do the same search, it takes 20-30 seconds
for the results to appear. Has anyone else had this problem? Can
someone please suggest a fix for the 2003 version? BTW, Converting the
database to Access 2003 made no difference.

Also check your search options: is your default
single column search, or full table search?

I found the problem. If I uncheck "Search Fields as Formatted" then the
search runs just as fast as ever. "Search Fields as Formatted" is
checked by default. Does anyone know how to have the default be
unchecked?

I haven't got XP or 03 installed at present - you might
like to repost this as a new question.
