Hi,

I have encountered limitation on number of search folders in the Outlook
2003 (connected to E2K3). How many search folders can be created? Why there
is a limitation? It makes search folders useless.

When I tried to create one more search folder, an error message has
appeared, which advised me to contact system administrator. What could
system adminstrator do with this?

Best regards,
Vit Knyshevich.

Oops!
I've already found. It can be changed by SearchMaxNumberOnline:DWORD in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\General,
using GPO or something else.

Best regards,
Vit Knyshevich.

Be aware that creating too many search folders with Exchange can bring the
server to its knees. If lots of users create lots of search folders that can
happen.

A search folder is a MAPI restriction which is cached on the server and uses
some server bandwidth to update itself. Too many in too many mailboxes is a
big performance hit. Other restrictions are used for things such as
reminders, so the server has other restrictions cached (usually for up to 8
days) too.

That's the reason MS limited the number of search folders that can be
created by default in Outlook 2003.
