search assistant

anyone know how to rid computer of task bar "search
assistant" that loads on its own....i updated once time
and this now appears and i cannot find it as a program.
thanks for help

Jon, I have struggled for 2 weeks and finally if got rid of it.
Control Panel, add-remove programs, remove "Windows SA"
Then explore to C:\Program Files\WindowsSA\ ---Delete this folder

That is what I did and it is gone. Good luck and let me know if this helped.

The Taskbar doesn't offer the Search assistant. If you are meaning within
IE, on the Toolar: Go to View/Explorer Bar and uncheck Search. To remove
the Search button altogether on the Toolbar, right click the
Toolbar/Customize - in the right pane scroll down to Search, click it once,
then select Remove.
