search and find problem

HELP!!

I have Win xp SP1 on a pen 2.4 with 512Ram

Starting to day when I click on Search>Files or Folders the computer hangs -

I press Ctrl Alt Del and see that the cpu use has gone up to 100%
There are no active applications in the Task window.

Any thing on the task bar is locked -- the curser goes to the hour-glass

I have tried restoring to an earlier date but this has no effect -- it
happens over all the three users of the computer (family)

Any ideas what I have done to cause this???

for some strange reason it seams to have fixed itself !!!

I had just opened a new user (for my self and have been transferring things
across and it suddenly started working again..
Now I am half and half between two users - go back or go forwards ??

That is the question !!

nope couldn't find that file still hanging when I click on search
