The 'Code 10' for the WPD filessytem is a know effect when an
USB removable drive has no drive letter assigned. WPD doesn't
work then but this doesn't hurt.
Are you sure that D: is your SD-Reader?

That's what showed in My Computer, it's a laptop without a cd rom built in
and I might have had a usb removable drive connected. no problems with usb
devices.
Thank you

Does the drive letter appear only when a card is inserted?

Then the drive letter might be not yet assigned when the
WPD file system driver tries to start. This fails then with
'Code 10'. Just ignore it or deactivate the WPD file system
driver for the card reader.

I have this same problem with Vista Business on my brand new Sony VAIO
laptop... it started happening after I installed the Windows Mobile Device
Center Update 6.1 from Microsoft.
I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and even deleting the INF files to get
this to stop and it still persists.
I just keep sending the error reports to Microsoft hoping that they come out
with a fix... tons of people are having this problem and it effects
everything from Windows-based mobile phones to SD cards, to practically
anything with a flash-memory and a USB connection.
