SD Card locks up vista

Hello, running vista home premium. Whenever I insert an SD memory card, as
soon as vista tries to access it, it locks the computer hard. I have tried
3 different SD cards, all the same result. I dual boot with XP and when I
try them in XP, they work just fine. Seems to be an issue with my install
of vista.

Any ideas? Thanks

If it is an internal SD-reader of a laptop then check out
the manufactures home page for updated vista driver.

first, while this does not explicitly document your issue, have you
tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936825 ?

second, did you use these cards without issues under XP?

third, can you please go into device manager and check SD Host
adapters and reply with any info, including manufacturer and
driver/driver version?

for my system.

Regarding info, it is:
SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller
Microsoft
6/21/2006
6.0.6000.16478
Digital Signer: Microsoft
PCI bus 2, device 1, function 2
This device is working properly

I don't have an answer for you. I've got a couple of machines myself
that have problems with SD cards. I'll pass your info along to some
folks at Microsoft.

Thank you. I was searching through the dell forums as well, some some posts
on this issue, but no resolutions. Dell posted something about the reader
in 9200 was not intended and won't be supported in Vista and that they
switched manufacturers during the changeover to Vista. Saw something about
one person stating to use a Ricoh driver and although it is not the same
manufacturer, it worked for them. I will venture down that road and post
if it works.

Thanks again for your efforts.
