Scrolling to bottom of web page automatically

For the past several weeks I have encountered an annoyance where my browser
will suddenly scroll to the bottom of the current web page. I'll click the
top of the scroll bar and it scrolls up but as soon as the pointer leaves
the vertical scroll bar it jumps back to the bottom of the page again.
Anyone ever see this? Could it also be a malfuntioning mouse? I'm using a MS
Intellimouse Optical USB on Windows XP Pro.

If update 824145 is installed it may be the cause.
It can be removed with the Add/Remove applet but you will loose the security
protection.

Workarounds:
Click immediately under the slider.
Drag the slider.
Use the mouse wheel.
Use the Page Down and Page Up keys.
