Scroll Bar Mystery.

I don't recall tweaking any settings on my computer, but all of a sudden one day my scroll bar jumps two pages for every click. I used to be able to just scroll one page up or down with one click in the scroll bar box, but now it leaps two pages either way. I have looked at my mouse speed and the mouse settings and nothing seems different. What do I need to do to get this back to a one-page-at-a-time scroll

Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe,

It's a known problem with Windows Update KB824145. For now, the only fix is
to remove it. To do so, copy/paste the below into a start/run prompt and
click "ok":

c:\windows\ieuninst /q c:\windows\inf\q824145.inf

Hopefully, the error will be fixed soon and you can reinstall this security
update.

Hey, Rick

Thanks for the reply. I did what you suggested and it fixed the problem. Thank you. That was just driving me "nuts"

Ok, now that you are here....puzzle me this: It seems Windows has some Gremlins at times. When I bring up my list of "Favorites" in Internet Explorer©, the wee little icons that used to proceed the address names are changed at times to the Blue Explorer "E" icon instead of the colorful ones that were originally there, such as the eBay "E" or the Amazon "A". What goes on behind the scenes in this case

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated. I will ask about the Rocket Science in my next post. LOL

Thanks again, JoeTaho

Hi Joe,

The icons (called favicons) are stored in the Temporary Internet Files, and
they exist until pushed out of the TIF's for newer data. Once pushed out,
the links revert to the standard e icon.

Rick

Once again, thank you for the reply. So I guess that means there is no way to anchor those "favicons"

Yes there is.
Create a folder called Icons.
When you drag a link to Favorites, go into Temp Internet files folder
<your-user-name>
Find the icon, copy it, paste it into the Icon folder & rename it to eBay or
whatever you want.
Go to properties of your link, chande icon, browse to your Icon folder &
select it.
