I just got my brand spaking new shining Dell 300m
today... and I already have a problem with it. I can't
update anything ... anti-virus software or windows. I
think it is a scripting error of some sort, but i cannot
find any fixes. Dell didn't help much today, but I will
try again. I have emailed Microsoft support as well.
but maybe someone here will have a suggestion?

I hope you understand that this is a VERY vague question. In order for us to
supply suggestions, we need specific details. Like, what happens when you
try to update windows or your A/V software? What error did you get that
makes you think, "it is a scripting error of some sort.." ?

Sorry bout forgetting the details ;-)

Basically, when I try to update my AV software I get a
message that ActiveX is not enabled. It is enabled,
however. I also don't have any firewall or adblocking
enabled. When I went to the McAfee website for help,
they suggested that one of the problems might be a script
engine error. So, I came to the microsoft website and
found a patch that when I try to Install i get the
message "WEUpate cannot retrieve information needed for
setup from the database".

When I try to do a windows update, I get error message
0x80190194, what I find on that message does not seem to
have anything to do with what is happening to me. I
think that is all the details I have
