screensaver problem

I have windows XP pro installed and have 4 different user accounts, with
their own settings/desktops etc.

When I boot up the pc but don't log in as any user (i.e. at the welcome
screen), after a while the screensaver kicks in. Once this happens I cannot
get my pc to wake up. I end up having to reboot the pc. Is there a way of
disabling the screensaver from kicking in when not logged in??

Cheers in advance

Steve, I've had this problem before, it turns out that I had my hard disk set
to turn off after a while. Generally the Default setting in Windows is to
have the hard disk(s) turned off when the computer goes idle. Mainly for
power saving and maintaining hard disk reasons i suspect. All I had to do
was turn off that option, and now i'm fine. This might not help though, but
is a suggestion. (You can access this option through right clicking on the
desktop, then select properties. Click Screen Saver tab, and select the
option in the window "Power") Hope this was some help.

Yeah, i didnt think about the fact you have 4 profiles. I would think that
you can do what I said by logging in as administrator, and hopefully it will
apply the settings for the computer itself and not just that profile

Also, be sure the system is not set to go into hibernation or standby mode
in the power saving menu - spinning the hard drive SHOULDN'T do what is
happening, though I really wouldn't be very surprised if on some systems it
acted quirky like that.
