It could be the work of malwares or infection, what type of screen saver you
have installed?.

I had the same problem and finally figured it out!! Are you using a wireless
mouse....seems the software for both logitech and microsoft mice conflicts
with the screensaver and causes it not to run. I uninstalled the software
for the mouse (the software is used only for advanced functions for the mouse
and won't affect its ability to work normally) and now the screensaver is
working perfectly. Hope this helps!!
