I have set and reset my screen savers and it might work once then it does not
work again. How do I get my screen saver to work automatically? I have to
start it manually for it to work. Can you or someone help me with this
problem?

try this option out first
f you wish to try this go in Root first and back up this file
libkdeinit_kdesktop.so found in root/user/lib in case this does not work for
you.
Go to:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=42637&PHPSESSID=c09609f04b0207cc30ee70bae78fca9c
and download file 42637-kdesktop_3.5.3-0ubuntu0.2_FIX_i386.
After downloaded I clicked on 42637-kdesktop_3.5.3-0ubuntu0.2_FIX_i386 file
then on user then click on lib folder right click and copy
libkdeinit_kdesktop.so within this folder.
Now go to root/user/lib and right click paste libkdeinit_kdesktop.so it will
ask you to overwrite file this is okay.
After you have done this reboot computer and try screensaver again in user
mode and it should be okay.

or you can try this option out
you can either reinstall your video card or update your current drivers to a
newest version

First make sure when your picking your screen saver you are hitting the
Apply button to make the change. If thats not the problem and its clearly
set as your screensaver it just never runs you may look for a program or
service that is keeping the computer busy and not allowing it to be "idle" so
it never kicks on.
