screen saver won't work

i've had a screen saver on and working for a while w/ a password protect.
suddenly the screen saver will never even turn on and i haven't made any
changes to my computer that should render it incapable of even turning on a
screen saver or turning off the monitor when i've been away for hours at a
time. everything is set the same as it was when it was working. any help?
 
Hi,

Some start up programs could cause this. Do a clean boot to identify that.

Click Start-> Run and type MSCONFIG. Hit ENTER.

Click on the ‘Services’ tab. Please uncheck all of non Microsoft services
listed.

Now, click the ‘Startup†tab on the top right end of the System
Configuration window.

Click the “Disable all†button.

Click Ok and restart.

Check whether the problem is solved. If yes, re-enable all the services
alone and check if is caused by services.(normally not.) If not, re-enable
the startup items from the startup tab, in groups of 5 at a time and find out
the corrupt one.
