Screen Saver Shortcut

Dan

How can I create a shortcut on my desptop to access
screen saver start-up? I have a tool bar button I use to
instantly start screen saver in Win NT 4 but I can't
figure out how to do this with Win XP Professional.

Your screensavers are located in the \windows\system32 folder as .scr files.
Rightclick on your favorite and drag it to the desktop.
Choose create shortcuts here.

If you are simply trying to lock your computer when you are away from
it--press windowskey+L.
It won't bring up the screensaver, but it will lock the PC at the logon
screen.

Thanks for the explanation David!!

Larry

Screensavers are ordinary programs. In themselves they don't have security.
When windows starts the screensaver it switches to something similar to
another logon, then runs the program there. The security is on switching
back to your own desktop.

When you run a screensaver manually you are running it like word or notepad,
it ONLY a program that makes pretty screens. Because it';s being run on your
desktop there is no security.
