Screen saver question

Is there a simple way to make a non scrolling text message screen saver?
Maybe I am too dumb to figure this out, but I want the screen saver to come
on and just show a message without scrolling.

If the text does not scroll then the screen is not being saved! If the text
stays in place then after time, whenever you would turn off the screen, you
will see the exact words on the screen.

A screen saver is a program where every screen pixel is updated in a timely
fashion.

I think you were a little hard on Yves. I agree that there are a lot of
people that just like to hear them self type.

But back to your question. It is hard to answer because it is not clear
what you mean by non scrolling. What does that mean to you? Because it is
obvious you know that the letters must move for screen saving to do its task.

My I suggest you re-word you question, that may give you some additional
responses.

I want to use the screen saver function, so it will place the text on the
screen when the computer is idle and require a password to get back to
windows. I am not concerned with the possibility of it burning into the
screen, since that is not a major problem with newer monitors and software.
With today's hardware, screen savers are mostly for show anyway. My only
purpose is to have a specific text message onscreen via the screensaver
function.

Maybe one of the MS experts will tell you location of the directions but yes
you can.

In the screen saver properties (Control Panel / Apppearance & Themes/ Screen
Saver) pick 3D Text. At that location you can tell how long to wait until it
screen appears and you can add a password. You choose settings that is
located where you picked 3D Text. In the next window you will pick Custom
Text to input the text you want to appear. You can also choose how you want
it to move. I don't think you can get away with out having some movement.

But you will get the text and password which is very useful.

Hope that helps.

I am using XP Pro and I would suspect that it is common on all windows OS. I
don't think they tinker with things unless they have to.

If the Control Panel is set for Category View then the Display, Folder
and Taskbar and Start Menu options are under Appearance and Themes category.
