Screen saver problem

There is nothing I can do to make my screen saver come on after the
designated number of minutes. Sometimes it will work right after a restart,
but once I start using the computer, it stops working. Sometimes it will
work right after a restart, but will go off by itself and not work again
until after another restart. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Use a built-in Microsoft screen saver for testing. Make sure that SP2
has been installed as it resolves some screen saver issues as well.

In addition of Ramesh's response, your screensaver will very likely
not work if your internal clock is not working or the CMOS battery is
getting weak. Is your clock working properly?

The condition of the CMOS battery can't possible influence how the
screensaver works, since the battery isn't even used while Windows is
rinning. The only purpose of the battery is to keep the clock running and
the CMOS settings intact while the computer is powered *off*.
