screen saver not working

Im running XP Home Edition - my screen saver does not work I have checked
settings in properties and everything seems in order. Ive read other posts
and some suggest it can be caused by a wireless mouse - I have a infrared
mouse. Any ideas? Would appreciate any help.

I was having the same problem and I think I fixed it. I did 3 things and I
don't know which one did the trick. One thing I did was change the USB port
that the receiver was plugged into. When I changed ports I got the new
hardware message, so I'm thinking it might have reset something. The other
thing I did was change the channel on the receiver. The third thing I did
was reset the mouse (there's a small button on the bottom of the mouse).
One of those things fixed my screen saver problem. Hope this helps you
because I know it's really frustrating.
