Screen Saver Failure

I have a new XP system. The screen save will only
activate if the activation time is set to one minute. If
I set it to 2 minutes or highr the screen saver never
comes on. The only application that is loaded is the
Norton antivirus.

The really strange thing is that I had the exact same
problem on my old system for it's entire 6 year service
life.

Some software running in the background may prevent Windows from
starting the screen saver. See "How to Troubleshoot By Using the
Msconfig Utility in Windows XP"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310560) and "How to Perform a
Clean Boot in Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310353).
