Screen Saver carshes the PC

What is your standby setting?

Why not use Standby or hibernate feature?

Does you hard drive support this feature?
from XP Help and Support
To use this Power Options feature, you must have a hard disk that is set up
by the manufacturer to support this option.

Fix your clock, you are posting from the future. Check your time and time
zone settings.

Whenever I set the screen saver -> "turn off hard disks" to a certain value
the PC crashes (if set on "never" everything is OK). It crashes when I touch
anything like keyboard or mouse after this value. When that happens the PC
simply starts from boot without any error message.

If I work continously with the PC everything is fine.

Have anyone any idea?

The values are so:

Enable Hibernate - not selected
Free diskspace - 801 MB
Disk space required to hibernate - 448 MB

Thanks

Thanks Mr Dennis,

I'll try to enable hibernate feature. Do you think this may help to my
problem?

Regarding the disk support - the PC behaved fine until 3 days ago with the
same disk.

Menker
