Almost since I got this Dell Dimension 8300 desktop I
have had trouble getting the screen saver and monitor
power down to work. At the moment the screensaver will
not execute EXCEPT when set to one minute and then the
monitor does not power down. If the screensaver is set
to anything except 1 min it will not execute and the
monitor will not go into power save mode.
Dell support is useless. They want me to reformat the
disk and reload the OS and all of the software. This is
a radical and excessive. THere has got to be a real
reason for the problem; maybe somewhere in the registry.
My OS is completely uptodate so KB 326719 does not appear
to apply inthis case.
