Screen rotation

My children have managed to rotate all Windows based
screens by 90 degrees. This happens after booting up the
machine once Windows XP has loaded. The Start button is
now located in the top left hand corner of the screen,
inverted 90 degrees to to read you have to rotate the
screen 90 degrees. This is for all menus. I have tried to
drag and drop the toolbar - this moves but remains
inverted.

Any ideas?

Hi, Tim.

What make and model computer? What display adapter and monitor?

Some of the displays now available allow switching the screen from the
traditional landscape mode to portrait mode. Is yours one of those?

No, I don't have one and don't know how to fix the problem. All I can think
of, for typical systems, is to look for a fix in Display Properties.

This happened to me once by accident. Go to the display properties and find
this 'feature' and rotate things back by 90 degrees.

Just as R.C. White and JCH pointed out. In addition, when you find where it
was set to rotate the screen, also look in the same area for defined
keystroke macros that come with this settings to rotate the screen using
keyboard. You may want to make sure that the keyboard macro is not too
simple such as ALT-R or CTR-R. Most can be changed or removed. If you do
change, use more complex keyboard macro such as ALT-CTR-R
