Screen Resolution Problem

Roger

I usually use 800x600, but recently switched temporarily to 1024x768 to
try it. (I'm thinking of buying Photoshop Elements 4, which requires
this resolution.)

When I switched back to 800x600 I found that my brightness/contrast,
size adjustments and refresh rate settings had all been lost. All had to
be reset. Is this normal and, if not, how can it be avoided? All the
settings except for the refresh rate had been set using the buttons on
the monitor itself.

I am running WinXP Home, SP2.

Monitor: ViewSonic G70f (CRT), showing as a Plug and Play Monitor on
Radeon 9250, using a Microsoft driver. I did not install the ViewSonic
software or drivers.

I would be most grateful if anyone could shed light on this.

It's not *that* normal-ish.

But it could be expected it's probably down to the monitor itself having
different settings for every refresh rate and resolution combination. What
probably happened is the computer set it back to 800x600 but at a different
refresh rate then you originally had it in.

It probably won't happen again. But if it does you can go into the advanced
options (on the settings tab on the same window as the resolution controls),
and try and keep it the same. Generally speaking higher is better - but too
high and the monitor may not support it.

Catalyst Control Ctr of Radeon 9250 can save most of
these. Driver up-to-date?

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
