screen resolution and colour depth

i have just received updates onto my computer and now my screen is almost
unreadable i also get a message saying screen resolution and colour depth are
set to low i have tried to adjust this in my control panel but had no success
please help

Download and install the latest update for your video driver from the
manufacturers site.
