screen is smaller after installing SP2

I have installed the SP2 upgrade and now there is a black half inch band on
the right side of the screen. I have looked into "display" but don't know how
to slove this.

Trying changing the Monitor Refresh rate in your display settings.
Installation of SP2 has probably reset to a default of 60Hz (or
something like that).

Right click on desktop, select properties, select the Settings tab and
then click on the Advanced Button. From the "Default Monitor ...
Properties" window select the Monitor Tab and you should see the current
refresh rate. Change it to something you're comfortable with and then
click on Apply, OK.
