Screen graphics appear large

Hi, I'm trying to fix my sisters PC. When she starts the PC the text on the
boot up screen is really large. It seems to right itself in XP but then
becomes really huge again when her son tries to play some games.

I have reinstalled the video driver and checked the display settings. Any
other suggestions apart from trying another video card? (I live 1 hour away
from her and will try this when I next see her).

The son needs to end the program properly so XP can reset the video.

The problem actualy started with just the oversized screen on boot up and the
games were working fine. Now, it's on bootup (including in the CMOS setup).
XP looks fine but then when we start a game it goes all hugely oversized.
However, one of the games (Cars Radiator Springs) works fine.
