screen goes to sleep, key sequence to wake up?

I don't know if this is windows problem, or related to
IBM think pad, but when haven't used computer for a
while, the screen goes black, and I don't know who to
wake it up. all the programs are still there, but the
screen does not come back.
Is there a key sequence to get it back? thanks, Kate

Its probably yr notebook going into hibernate mode.
ie after a period of none useage the pc hibernates 'goes to sleep' in order
to save its battery.
If you have a program open when this happens, eg a Word doc, it'll be open
and available on restart.
If you use yr notebook only with mains power there are settings that can be
altered so that hibernate doesnt operate. See yr Power options in control
panel
