Running XP Home on an Amilo laptop, my daughter and I have sparate pofiles. I
use Word 2003, Firefox and Thunderbird, occasionally IE.
The screenfreezes, usually five minutes after first boot most days. Neither
keypad or touch pad work...the office assistant just sits wagging his tail
while I fume. NOTHING works except holding down the power button and re
booting to find word may not have auto saved since I did.
I have worked in Word - in her profile - for hours without a problem. We
are equally paranoid and use norton utilities, AV and Firewall with Spybot.
I am baffled and will welcome any suggestions. Thanx!

Check to see what you have starting up in your account that your
daughter doesn't have in hers.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

If that doesn't help, make a new profile for yourself and see how that
goes. If it works, then copy over your data and delete the original
user account. In cases like this, I don't suggest copying the actual
user account since you don't want to copy whatever was causing the
problem.
