I am new to computers. can you tell me if it is normal to have a black band
around the outside of the screen, it is about 1 cm wide. can I make the
screen bigger to have the whole screen used? Even when i maximise or use full
screen it it still there. Thank you

Use the buttons on your monitor and resize it so that it fills the whole
monitor.

Use the buttons on the *monitor* to adjust the picture to fill the
screen.
