Screen Change on 'Log-On' and 'Log-Off"

Hi:
For some reason, the screen of 'Log-on' and 'Log-Off' changed.

Up to this morning, the screen of 'Log-on' and 'Log-off' was
'classical,' ... when closing Windows XP, there was just three box,

Shut Down Restart Standby

Now, there are several, 'drop-down' menues,
Log Off Owner
Shut down
Install Update and Shutdown
Restart
Stand by
Hibernate

Also, on Starting up Windows,
Owner and Password for opening Internet
Before, WindowsXp opening without asking Users and Password.

My question is;
How to get the previous screen, both 'Log-on' and 'Log-off'?'
I truly miss this, simple and classic 'Log-on" and 'Log-off,' because,
this computer is using only 'me,' then I do NOT need user' name nor
password to log on.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

You disabled the Welcome screen. Control Panel/Users/"Change the way users
log on and log off".

To regain the autologon: Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2"
(without the quotes) and click ok. In the user list, click on the user that
you want to be the default. Uncheck the box requiring a username and
password, click apply/ok and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

Rick:

Didn't a particular install of .NET runtimes
also (inadvertantly) invoke the password dialogs?

I know it was fixed later, but if the user installed
a software package that included that particular build
of the runtimes, it may have produced these symptoms...

Hi,

Yep, sure did - but the fix is the same.

Hi:
Thanks for both, ... I really appreciate.

I did as the first response instructed, ... but it didn't cure this problem.

This afternoon, I installed 'software' that came with 'Wireless-G'
PCI Adapter which making 'Wireless' Networking. However, it didn't work,
then
I uninstalled by using Add/Remove. Also, a Manual for 'Wireless' by Adobe
causing this? It's still on the desktop.

Any solution on 'Log-On' and 'Log-off' screen probem would be appreciated.

Hi,

That is the entire problem. The norm is to use msgina.dll, and the software
installation replaced it. At this point, as you have removed the software,
run System Restore to a point before this all started.

As to the wireless stuff, all you may need is the actual driver file, but
probably not. Support for this is already built into the system, you should
be able to just plug the card in, and the Wireless Zero Config service
should pick it up. If it does not, it may simply need to be enabled.
