Screen/Application Sharing and Whiteboarding

Is there any freeware that can be used as a server for screen and
application sharing and whiteboarding over the Internet? This would be
similar to some of the functionality in Lotus Sametime or Microsoft
LiveMeeting (http://main.placeware.com/) except I don't need video or
audio conferencing. Ideally, it could be done with a java-based plugin
so all that would be required for the other sites would be a web browser
plus JRE.

Thanks!

Though be mindful of the licenses as not all open source is freeware.

I just noticed messenger does that: http://messenger.msn.com/ . No Java
though.

The main feature I need is screen and application sharing. AFAIK,
NetMeeting does neither of these. Whiteboarding would also be nice but
the screen and app sharing is most important.

Netmeeting does do these things. Perhaps you've never looked under the
Tools dropdown menu (sharing - allow control for others, whiteboard, etc).

Also, VNC can host clients that connect via a java applet.

Sorry, I meant to write Messenger but maybe it does this stuff as well.
I wouldn't know since I don't use it.

VNC isn't a practical solution in this case. Say there are several
cities on a conference call and they all need to be able to share apps
or their screen. I need something like Lotus Sametime or Microsoft
LiveMeeting (minus the video and webcam components) - a central server
where meetings can be scheduled (nice but not essential) and people can
join the meeting. I also need to allow any machine involved in the
conference call to share their app or screen at any given moment.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'd be interested in hearing about
what you decided to use.

No, but I'll post something once I do.
