Scheduled Tasks

When I try to use my Mcafee Virus Scan or Windows Update
as a daily scheduled task I get a "can not run" message
in the status column for these tasks. Each time I try and
set up a scheduled task, when I get to the end and enter
my user name and password I get the following error
message. Ox8007007A: The data area passed to a system
call is too small. How do I correct this problem.

Bruce;

Try scheduling Virus Scan within the Mcafee program itself.

For Windows Update.
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | OK |
Scroll down to and double click Automatic Updates |
Make sure it's set to Automatic.

Right click My Computer | Properties | Automatic Updates tab |

Check:
Keep my computer up to date.......
Notify me before downloading any updates and notify me again before
installing them on my computer
Automatically download the updates and install them on the schedule that
I specify
Check:
Download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to
be installed

[[Set the days and time when you want Windows to install updates. Windows
finds updates on the Windows Update Web site that apply to your computer and
downloads them automatically in the background (you are not notified or
interrupted during this process). When downloading is complete, a message
appears in the notification area so you can review the updates that are
scheduled for installation. If you choose not to install at that time,
Windows starts the installation on your set schedule. Some updates might
require that your computer be restarted to complete the installation. If you
are logged on to your computer, Windows notifies you and gives you the
option to delay the restart. Be sure to save any work prior to the scheduled
installation time.]]

[[To modify Automatic Updates settings, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group.]]

there is a MS KB article describing your error, but it applies to IE
5.0 ? , XP runs IE6.0, have a look anyway.
