Scheduled Tasks

Hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone could point to an kb article or even tell me how we
can stop the Scheduled Tasks share from appearing when people browse a
server. For example if we had a server called FRED and someone entered in
\\FRED from IE or windows explorer, the default shares are shown along with
"Scheduled Tasks". I would like to stop Scheduled Tasks from being
displayed. I've been going through group policies and haven't found anything
yet that will stop it from appearing. I did come accross a reference to
doing this but it required the removal of specific registry keys, and I'm a
little hesitant about removing key's as you never really know what else
might depend on them and the last thing I want to do is to induce any
instabilities to the system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Craig

In the first instance I would apply some restrictive permissions
to the folder c:\Tasks.

any help?

Hi all,

thanks for the replies. Well it looks as if the only way of doing this is to
remove the reg keys as outlined by Steve's post. With regards to the
previous poster (sorry, lost the post so I can't recall your name) the tasks
folder is obviously treated as a special folder as it does not have the full
set of properties tabs you would normally expect to see. In fact there's
just the GENERAL tab and that's it. Going through the various policy
settings related to scheduled tasks, it appears (someone correct me if I am
wrong as the help is a litte vaugue on the scope of the policies) that these
policies will only effect the level of access to the local PCs scheduled
tasks subsystem and not remote systems.

Thanks for all the replies.

Craig
