I would like to schedule an automatic hibernation or sleep mode at 10:00 PM
daily on my child's computer with a password. I know how to schedule &
password a task but am unsure what the program file name to use to schedule
this task would be? Does anyone in this board know the answer? Thank you.

You may try this shutdown.exe utility
http://www.budja.com/shutdown/

From that page:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Shutdown.exe is a simple command line utility that can:
Log Off the current user
Shutdown (Turn Off) the computer
Restart the computer
Hibernate the computer (note that hibernation has to be enabled!)
Put the computer into Stand By (Sleep)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

-or-

The following command line tools supports suspend (sleep) as
well as hibernate:

Wizmo
