Hello,

I have ntbackup scheduled to run on a computer to backup files to a
removable hard disk. When I return the following morning, the Scheduled Task
folder shows the status as 0x1f - Is there anywhere that lists these error
codes and how can I figure out what is wrong?

Thanks,

Does the account have a password?

Yes, the password credentials are correct as well, and the account is a
member of the local admins group.

Sorry Sam, I don't use ntbackup so I can't help any further on this.

Don't use NT Backup? NTBACKUP.EXE is the backup utility that comes with
Windows XP. This is the Microsoft Support Forum so I'd assume that this would
be the place to ask a question on the matter! Are you sure you can't help me

lol..now that you ask again and I have re-examined the issue - no I
can't. I don't use it, and have never encountered the error. This is a
peer support group. All of us are volunteers, not MS tech support.
Occasionally an MS employee will post here but not in an official
capacity.

Ntbackup is a legacy app ported from NT. I tried it at first and didn't
like it. It can't backup to CD - except to a single CD and only if 3rd
party software is installed - it can't backup to DVD, has file size
limits and the ASR restore is awkward. I migrated a long time ago to
Drive Image 7 for making drive images. There are newer backup apps in
the same flavor of ntbackup such as Stompsoft's Backup MyPC or Sonic's
offering - among others.

If you want MS tech support, call them.

0x1F stands for "A device attached to the system is not functioning",
which can mean anything.
