Scheduled Scan will not run if user is logged off

I have scheduled scan set for 3 winxp pro machines to run
a 2:00am every day. However when they log off the network
the scans do not run. Is this by design, or am I missing
something? MSAS is installed on each client.

That is because MSAS does not run as a service, you have to be logged into
the machine.

For home users, it should also be good to trigger scan on idle time (ie,
start if screen-saver active for more than ... minues). Usually, home users
log off by shutting down the box.

If you set your screensaver for 2 to 15 minutes, its does not make sense.
setting appropriate scan schedules is so much better.

Just suggested this as home users don't open or close their box in a
constant way so scheduled time should be missed frequently and I don't like
scan at start-up as it extends boot duration.

I believe that scannings is less important than realtime
protection and
knowledge about to don´t "klick" on suspected links.

Most important for home users is then to have a "master"
password for
allowing real time protected issues. Zone Alarm for example
have this function.

But zone alarm is so cumbersom, I prefer the Windows Firewall, although it
too can have its moments when it gets really weird.

Well, this was not about if Zone Alarm is good or bad, it
was about
to have a password for allowing real time protected issues
and this
is really important among home users.

I dont believe in limited accounts, to much trouble.

About Windows Firewall I can only say that I dont like
unknown traffic from my PC --> Internet and therefore I am
using either ZoneAlarm or
Kerios firewall to also control that, calling Mum traffic etc.
