No, Windows 2000 does not have a similar utility. To back up your
registry create an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) and select to backup the
registry at the same time. Keep your ERD up to date, when you do major
changes to your system create a new ERD.

Windows 98 had a DOS utility--I think it was scanreg--for returning to a
previous good copy of the registry. Does this also come with W2K?

Thanks, John. In Windows 98, I could make a startup disk but the ERD seems a
bit more complicated. I have Acronis so perhaps I may not need an ERD.

I'm trying the patch (which I think is similar to Gary Terhune's) in
addition to the Dimension 4 software. BTW, I wasn't using Dimension 4 when I
posted my question.

Making an ERD is pretty simple, it takes about 30 seconds to do, look in
you Windows help files for more information. This disk (and the backup
registry) can be extremely an valuable tool when certain failures strike!

I've used Dimension 4 for years and it's never been a problem for me.
Perhaps it's the specific server you have it configured for?

Actually, I don't think the problem is with D4. I think it does fix the time
problem.

It isn't doing too good of a "fixing" job, you are still posting way off
into the future!
