Is there a freeware program that would enable someone to scan for a
particular file inside of compressed files (Zip, RAR, WinAce, Arj,
ect...)? Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you!

XP's search function looks inside compressed files.

NGDiskcat is a disk cataloguing program with a built-in ZIP and RAR parser.
So it lists contents of zip and RAR files and you can also for them.
