Scanner for Slides

I want to get a new scanner that has a transparency adapter. Has anyone had
experience with these and what is the best one to get?

Also, the newer models are for USB 2.0 and my computer is a few years old so
probably has USN 1.1 but I don't know how to tell. Can I upgrade with a PCI
card and hub?

98SE and above, sure. First version 98 can be iffy.
A 5 port card is about $25.
You can get a 2 port one for about 10.
