Scanner / Camera - WAI Conflict??

I look after a system for some not very PC aware friends.
I have recently upgraded the system unit - P2 to P4. OS is
Windows XP Prof.. Unfortunately I am unable to get their
Scanner (Mustek 1200 UB) working on the new system.
Well that's not actually true. I can get the scanner working,
but not while the software/drivers for the Canon IXUS 40
camera is installed. It would seem that it's one or the other,
but not both.

The embarrassing thing is that it all worked just fine
on the old P2 system.

Is there something about the WAI interface that I
need to fiddle with?

Anyone have any thoughts on this...

Many thanks,
Roy

WIA does not play nicely with Twain.... the best way to get around this is
to use a card reader for the transfer of images from camera to PC and use
Twain for the scanner (as Mustek originally intended)...

Cari,
Many thanks for your response...

Hmmm - so why did it work just fine on the P2 ?

Not a nice solution... Would they still have the problem if they
went out an bought a newer scanner? The Mustek is getting
a bit long in the tooth. A simple HP machine is only abot £40,
that's about 70 dollars...

Thanks,
Roy

Cari,

Err.. Sorry not quite sure what you mean..

Are you saying that I'm going to have the same
problem with a new Scanner? Or is there some
other meaning in you post?

It looks to me as if the Scanner is not using Twain
but is using WIA - or is there some link-up there?

Many thanks for your help,
Roy
