Scanned documents in Word using OCR Software

We are using OCR software to scan documents into Word so we may make changes. The problem is, Word creates text boxes around what it thinks is different paragraphs. If we want to add text to a text box, since the box is in a fixed position, it will over write the text below it. If we want to delete an entire section, it leaves a huge gap. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I suspect these are not text boxes but frames. You can remove the frames by
selecting all the text (Ctrl+A) and pressing Ctrl+Q.

If Suzanne's suggestion doesn't help, then be aware that OCR software
packages are not all equal and some make a complete dog's breakfast of
formatting. The best workaround is to export as text from the OCR app., or
get a copy of something that does a better job. If you are in the UK,
