Greetings !

1.
After my computer has crashed, upon the next boot-up,
Windows tries to run ScanDisk, but fails, because of all
the "other" processes loaded on start-up.

So I have to kill each process in turn, manually, by (for
each process) pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, selecting a process,
and killing it.

How can I write a batch file that will do this for me ?
i.e. kill all redundant processes, run ScanDisk, and then
re-boot.

Better still <grin> would SKS write me one, please ?

2.
I have three hard disks (C:, D:, and F:) and a ZIP drive
(E:).

If I want to run SCanDisk on all three fixed disks, then I
have to run ScanDisk twice, once with Drives C: and D:
selected, and once with drive F: selected. ScanDisk does
NOT allow me to select C:, D: and F: - it will only select
C:, D:, E: and F:

Cue for another Batch file, to run ScanDisk three times
automatically !

Pretty please ?

One thing I can tell you, is that 'scandisk' dosen't exist on XP.
Said has been replaced by 'chkdsk'
Thus for the 'command prompt' parameters, at command prompt type;
chkdsk /?

'scandisk' dosen't exist on XP.

Ooopppsss ! My office computer has XP; my home computer
(with the challenges) has Me....

Sorry !

I'll take that challenge elsewhere...

Erm... I thought that was the old MS-DOS program,
superseded in Windows by ScanDisk ???

Correct, on Win95 onwards MS were saying 'use this new and advanced program
(Scandisk) instead of 'Chkdsk''. Well come XP they decided that 'Scandisk'
was useing too many resources on it's graphical interface, so they reverted
back to 'chkdsk' !
