Scan Disk Problem

T

Tommy Leslie

My hard drive is partioned for two drives (C)and (E).
Scan disk will not stop scanning my disk at startup. It
won't let me format it until the utility program Scan
disk releases it. I'm trying to re-format for a Linux
install. Thanks for the help.

You can't format the system drive (probably the "C" drive mentioned
above) from within Windows, whether it is in Safe mode or not. Format
won't run on the system drive; that would be like sitting on the
branch you are sawing off of the tree.

If the OP is trying to install Linux, they should just run the Linux
install program. It should take care of any necessary formatting as
part of the install.
