Scaling of data in Line chart

I have two columns of figures that contain percentages. I wish to produce a
line chart containing both these. No problem so far.
But the chart that I get has Col. 1 scaled according to the Major Vertical
Axis and Col. 2 according to the Minor Vertical Axis so the data is not to
the same scale. How can I get both sets of data scaled to the same scale?

Not too clear. Nothing gets scaled by major or minor - these are just the
position of tick marks
If I have one date series with a range from 2% to 90% and a second with
range 2% to 10%, then my y-axis will go from 0 to 100%. The first data
series will use most of the plot area while the second is confined to the
bottom.
If I want to expand the second data series in the chart, I would use a
secondary axis.

Thanks Bernard,

The values in Col 1 range from 1 to about 50%
The values in Col 2 range from 1 to about 85%

Excel generates an axis at the left of the chart covering 0 at the bottom to
50% at the top. The values in Col 1 align to this and occupy the full top
to bottom range of the chart.
Excel generates another axis at the right of the chart covering 0 at the
bottom to 85% at the top. The values in Col 2 align to this and als occupy
the full top to bottom range of the chart.

What I want is a single axis at the left (covering in this instance 0 to
85%) with both Cols. aligning to this. i.e. the data from column 1 will
only go about half way up the chart (as the values are about half that of
colum n 2) whilst that from Col 2 will occupy the full range. This is, to
me, the normal way to display such data - and to you also it seems.

come out as I wanted!

Having got that sorted, I have a follow-on problem/query!

The graph now consists of two lines each of 70 points. I would like to add
to it two horizontal lines that represent the average values from these two
series. Easy to calculate, of course, but how do I get it to display on the
graph.

The result I seek will be two lines (one for each series) that go up and
down crossing the average lines that span the whole width of the graph area.
How do I go about this?
