Saving?

If you have saved a file, then change the contents of the file and saved it
again (with the same name). Can you recover the orginal file with the
orginal content?

Sorry Scott -

If you overwrote the document with the same name, then Word believes you
when you click OK to "Do you want to replace". If Word had crashed, then
you may have been able to recover parts of your file using the Auto
Recovery tools of Office. Word will attempt to recover files the next
time it opens after a crash.

If you opened the file, replaced the contents, saved, and closed the file
then unless you have the option, "Always create backup copy" turned on AND
you only saved the file once after the initial save when you made the
modifications, then you can recover the content from the backup copy. If you
don't automatically create a backup copy or saved several times after you
made the major changes then unfortunately there is nothing to recover.

Now, if the document is still open you might be able to use Undo and return
to the original content. If that's the case, then what I'd do is select all
and copy the current content to another document first.
